Dr. Chen designed and tested several lithium niobate optical switches, modulators, and polarization controllers. The lithium niobate optical switches were used in the DARPA MONET project. The lithium niobate polarization controller has won Photonics Spectra Photonics Circle of Excellence Award for its excellent performance and reliability.
